After creating my petrol competition advert I noticed when looking at my local newspaper a very similar advertisement to the one that I created. This was always a possibility as I had noticed beforehand that advertisements for petrol on newspapers were fairly common and the offer must have come up again. I did use the advert in one way however as I used it as inspiration to incorporate the oil spill so that the text is inside of the splurge but all other features such as the pump and the droplets was already planned to advertise the competition in my newspaper. There is also another difference in the advertisements with mine promoting a competition while the one in the Bristol Post being used to advertise an money off offer. This shows that this type of content is quite common which is good as I would have a similar target audience to what this newspaper would be targeting.
